Daily Reflection- Friday, March 27th, 2020
Today’s Readings (Wisdom 2:1a, 12-22; John 7:1-30), challenge us to live by the truth, even when it is not well received.
In the First Reading from the book of wisdom, we hear of the “Just One”, who is persecuted for speaking and living the truth. The ‘Just One’, prefigured the Passion of Jesus Christ. Jesus spoke the truth and challenged us to live by the truth: “The truth will set you free” – John 8:31-32.
We live today in a world in which to many, truth doesn’t matter anymore. It us not uncommon that those who try to live by the truth often face hostility and ridicule. We can take comfort in knowing that the Lord sees our efforts. “Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge him before my heavenly Father” – Mt 10:32. To acknowledge Christ before others, is to speak the truth and living the truth which Christ came to teach.
As we continue through these last weeks of Lent, may we persevere in our Lenten disciplines, that the truth of Christ may shine through us. AMEN.
Peace be with you!
