Daily Reflection – Thursday, April 23rd, 2020
Today’s First Reading (Acts 5:27-33) tells us that, filled by the Holy Spirit, Peter and the Apostles ignored the threats of the Sanhedrin and continued to share with the world the Good News of Christ’s Resurrection. “We must obey God rather than man. The God of our ancestors raised Jesus…, we are witnesses of these things, as is the Holy Spirit who God has given to those who obey him,” Peter said.
In today’s Gospel Reading (John 3:31-36), the Apostle John teaches us that God does not ration his gift of the Spirit. In Baptism, we have received the Spirit of God (1Cor 3:16). The Holy Spirit kindles in us the fire of God’s love and unites us in faith. He empowers us and enables us to believe in the Son of God so as to have eternal life.
So like Peter and the Apostles, we, too, are witnesses to the Gospel of Christ, if we cooperate with the Holy Spirit. May the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, be our strength in our daily efforts of discipleship. AMEN.
Peace be with you!
