The mission of the lectors is to proclaim the Word of God to the assembly at all Masses, although primarily on weekends and feast days. A lector proclaims the Word clearly, with purpose, and with a commitment to inspire the full attention and contemplation of the reading or readings by the assembly.
Lectors must participate in a training offered by the Diocese of St. Petersburg and a separate training by the head of the Lector Ministry at Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish. Lectors are usually assigned to read once or twice a month.
Weekend liturgies have a formal schedule, whereas weekday Masses may be volunteered according to personal activity.
